Purpose of Job
Improve the overall health of the communities we serve by assisting the Pharmacist in providing prescriptions to patients as follows:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Mixes pharmaceutical preparations, fills bottles with prescribed tablets and capsules, and completes labels for bottles.
  • Files prescriptions and retrieves pharmacy records as required.
  • Files completed prescriptions alphabetically on shelf for patient pick-up in the pharmacy. Hands out refills when requested to do so by Pharmacist where no counseling is deemed necessary.
  • Accepts phone calls to/from pharmacy regarding prescription refills by number, pricing information, provider refill requests, business hours, availability of goods and services, etc.
  • Places, receives, unpacks, and stores incoming supplies and drug orders. Counts stock and enters data in computer to maintain inventory records.
  • Collects payments from patients and other related front counter tasks.
  • Processes records of medication and equipment dispensed to customer, computes charges, and enters data in computer utilizing pharmacy and health center software systems.
  • Inputs refill requests and updates medication lists in patient’s electronic medical records (EMR).
  • Sets patients up with pharmacist for education via teleconferencing equipment.
  • Cleans equipment and sterilizes glassware according to prescribed methods.
  • Travels to tele-pharmacy sites to restock formulary, check supplies, and ensure equipment is in good working order.
  • Coordinates assistance from drug companies, either by utilizing patient assistance programs or requesting samples, for patients in need.
 
Qualifications
Experience:                           Prefer two years experience as a Pharmacy Technician A. Prior experience with third party billing very helpful, as is experience with  electronic         medical records.
Education:                            Pharmacy Technician level A license. 
Other Skills:                          Basic computer user skills required. Flexible to work various sites and shifts.
 
 
Physical Demands:        Techs must be able to move around the facility between 1/3rd and 2/3rds of the day, while sitting at a workstation occurs under 1/3rd of the day. Using hands and reaching with arms occurs over 2/3rds of the day. Communicating is also required over 2/3rds of the day, while climbing, stooping or crawling is minimal. Smelling, while not required, is a by-product of the lab. Lifting up to 10 lbs occurs occasionally, while 25-50 lbs occurs infrequently.Physical Demands
